About Matanich Reviews By Tyson Matanich

I started Matanich Reviews in the spring of 2025. Reviewing products was a natural fit because I’m detail oriented and enjoy analyzing and critiquing things. I focus on identifying a product's strengths, its limitations, and clear ways it can be improved.

I focus on written reviews because I noticed most creators have shifted entirely to video content, leaving fewer high quality written resources for people who prefer to read, skim, compare, and reference information at their own pace.

I'm not sponsored, though I do receive units for testing. I don’t sign contracts that limit what I can say, ensuring I have full control over every review. Purchasing through my affiliate links is a simple way to support my work without any added cost to you.

Vanlife Travels

A few years ago, I converted an AWD Ford Transit so my family of four could travel across the United States and Canada. Since then, we’ve taken several month‑long road trips, ski expeditions, and countless smaller adventures.

After months of research, I decided on an all‑in‑one power station as it allowed us to meet all our electrical needs, save money, and get on the road quickly. I enjoy designing and building things, but ultimately I realized a quality DIY system would cost significantly more than a power station and take much longer to install.

Professional Experience

I spent over a decade leading the development of Microsoft’s homepage and the front‑end engineering for the Halo video game website. During that time, I focused on building professional, high-performance, and accessible web experiences for a global audience. My early work in Microsoft User Research, where I built tools for usability studies, gave me a user‑first lens that guided the large‑scale experiences I later built for millions.

My time at Microsoft was defined by a deep collaboration with design teams on highly visible, public-facing products. I did more than just write code. I helped shape experiences by refining layouts, solving usability issues, and contributing original design assets. This 'design-engineer' mindset allowed me to advocate for the end-user and ensure that every experience I touched was as visually intuitive as it was technically robust.

Volunteer Experience

Beyond my professional career, I provide technical leadership to the King County Search and Rescue Association by administering their Google Workspace instance and guiding the evolution of their web platforms.

Outdoor Life

I love being outside. I grew up competing in snowboarding and skiing, and that passion for the mountains has stayed with me. Whether it’s winter sports, hiking, or exploring new places, the outdoors is a big part of my life.

Review Philosophy

I created Matanich Reviews to offer practical, in-depth analysis for people who want more than just a quick video review. My background in software engineering, design, and outdoor adventure influences how I evaluate and review products. My goal is to help people make informed decisions through thoughtful, well‑structured reviews.
